FAQ
Heat pump installation questions
Yes. Modern cold-climate heat pumps, such as Mitsubishi Hyper Heat systems, heat efficiently well below freezing and are used as the main heat source in many Massachusetts homes. We recommend a model rated for cold climates and install the outdoor unit on a raised stand so snow does not block it.
We install central ducted heat pumps for whole-home comfort, ductless mini-split heat pumps for single rooms or zones, cold-climate heat pumps for New England winters, and hybrid systems that pair a heat pump with a furnace. We recommend the type that fits your home and the way you use it.
In many homes, yes. A cold-climate heat pump can provide all of the heating and cooling. In others, a hybrid setup keeps the furnace as a backup for the coldest days. We assess your home, its insulation and your current system during a free visit and explain which option makes sense.
For cooling they are similar, but a heat pump also heats your home by moving heat instead of burning fuel, so one system covers both seasons. That usually lowers yearly energy use compared with running an air conditioner plus a separate furnace. We help you compare the options during the estimate.
Heat pumps work well in older homes, home additions, finished basements, home offices and any space where you want year-round comfort and lower energy bills. They are also an eco-friendly way to heat, because they move heat rather than burn fuel. We check your space and recommend the right setup.
Each installation includes a home evaluation, a load calculation for sizing, help choosing equipment, code-compliant electrical connections, brazed and pressure-tested refrigerant lines, vacuum and startup, testing in both heating and cooling, and a walkthrough so you know how to use the system and its controls. Every step is in a clear estimate first.
