At least once a year, ideally in spring before the cooling season. If your system is a heat pump or a mini-split that also heats your home, we recommend twice a year: in spring for cooling and in fall for heating. Regular service keeps it efficient and catches small problems early.
A tune-up includes a complete system inspection, a thermostat check and calibration, coil cleaning, a refrigerant level check, an electrical system check, lubrication of moving parts, drain line cleaning and a final performance test. We tell you about anything that needs attention before it turns into a breakdown.
Yes. A clean, well-maintained system uses less energy and costs less to operate, because clean coils and filters let air move freely and the compressor works less. Maintenance also prevents breakdowns, extends the life of the system and keeps it quiet and reliable through the whole summer.
Watch for weaker airflow, longer cooling cycles, higher energy bills, unusual noises, musty smells, water around the indoor unit or ice on the lines. If it has been more than a year since the last service, book a tune-up even if everything seems fine, before the summer rush starts.
Yes, some of it. You can replace or clean the filter every one to three months, keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and debris, and make sure the vents are not blocked. Leave coils, refrigerant, electrical parts and drain cleaning to a licensed technician, who has the right tools.
